Found this super helpful today! Even though it is slightly dated (I can tell because Photoshop doesn’t look like that anymore), the process is the same!

EK’s 5th Birthday Party!

So there I was – wife and I had just graduated from FPU and my time to use the Gazelle Budget was quickly running out.

“BUT we had only just begun!!!??”

What’s a family to do? Well – we could convert over to MyTMMO (My Total Money Makeover) but the question lingered. Would our budget go with us in the shift from one side of the website to the other? I kinda figured it would. But I couldn’t find any surefire answers when I did a search on google. Maybe I searched for the wrong terms (I chose to search for things like “Convert FPU to MyTMMO” and stuff like that. Figured someone would have asked the question that way.

No one had.

So I took a risk. Tried it. Went in with both feet. And it worked!

This blog entry – if you found it through a Google Search – is to serve you – the wandering/wondering geek who is in charge of keeping the budget up to date with expenses who is wondering if you are going to be able to save your handiwork from those 9/13 weeks of FPU – you CAN and you WILL get to have those budgets when you spin up a new MyTMMO subscription!

It worked for me and I believe their team is dedicated to customer service and due diligence for the users – it will most likely always be that way. Continue unabashed! Be bold! Go for it!

Where in the world is Leroy?

Hehe.

Carmen Sandiego

We are here. I am REALLY engaged with my work at work. So having a lot of fun there – feel like my talents are being appreciated and utilized so that is always rewarding.

As far as my own stuff – our videos over at Leese Racing have been getting a lot of hits (this is the big one and the newest ones are here and here) I’m enjoying that process as it represents a creative outlet AND technical. And it helps me justify time spent in the garage 😉

Also having alot of fun with our websites. Moving forward with some new strategies based on creating missions statements and finding intention in our work. All those things you see hanging on the walls of the halls of corporate offices are things that I used to make fun of – but now, I “GET IT”. I have been reading Three Feet From Gold which has been illuminating. Great motivational book and has really encouraged me to utilize my gifts, talents and resources to make our bigger dreams come alive.

As I layed in bed last night, unable to sleep until almost 3AM – I started asking myself (and answering) this question, “How bad do you want it?”

I am going to “up the ante” on our offerings by raising the bar for usability and service by making our products the best they can be. Hold on!

Reflections Don’t Lie

On Wed, Aug 29 2012, in Leroy, by Leroy Leese

Back in 2001 I wrote a song that had the following lyrics:

Tuesday morning,
Rub my eyes and get out of bed,
Hate this part of every single day.
I look in the mirror, and he looks my way
Reflections don’t lie, reflections don’t lie

Exercise, surgery and silicone
They can change your body
but they can’t change your soul
Spirit shines in times of sorrow
But its all okay ’cause
there is always tomorrow
Reflections don’t lie, reflections don’t lie

to you

The point of the song for me was to emphasize that what you see in the mirror is seen through a critical and discerning eye. It may not be an ACCURATE discernment – but there is discernment in any case.

I thought of this song last night because the guy in the mirror has been changing. A few more wrinkles. A few more grey hairs. I don’t feel like it is a reflection of my judgement – the hairs are grey – the wrinkles are present. But I don’t have to let them tell me I’m growing old. You are only as young as you feel so if you choose to let the reflection make you feel old – you will exude “oldness”. Yes, I just made up the word “oldness” but when you are my age, you can do that! 😉

Confession: I’m Unclean!

On Tue, Aug 28 2012, in Leroy, by Leroy Leese

Okay – weird title. But the truth is – and this is a big one …

I don’t always clean out my coffee cup before filling it up with new coffee at work in the morning.

Phew.

I’m glad I got that off my chest. For some reason – it feels a little exciting to not completely clean it out. Where does the excitement come from? And why do I catch a cold every other week? Correlation? No way. Or. Maybe.

Have you ever had a coworker who NEVER cleaned their ritualistic coffee cup? I have. The cup is stained and looks like it has really been put through the paces. For me – I use creamer – so I frequently feel compelled to at least rinse the cup. But scrub it? The lines and stains feel like a badge of honor. Hmm.

Bowling Rant!

On Mon, Aug 27 2012, in Leroy, by Leroy Leese

Yesterday, Jessica and I decided to take the little cherubs bowling for the first time. They did REALLY well considering how tough it is for kids to hurl a 16 lb ball down 60 feet of slick, oiled wood. Hehe (we didn’t actually make them throw the heavy ball, BTW) And check out the shoes I rented (click on the picture to the right to see close-up). Bright neon orange and green? For reals? Those were the BEST options for the bowling alley management to rent out?

Anyway – we had a good time. But I must say – in general – I was appalled to pay $15 for a medium cheese pizza. You know those baseball games you go to where it costs $4 for a hot dog and $6 for a beer. A $10 commitment for a lousy dent in your appetite. Same thing – except – this isn’t a baseball game – there is no “atmosphere”.

So the truly ridiculous part is after we ordered the pizza (and after we read the signs that said no outside drinks or food) we saw a Papa John’s delivery guy pull up. And he was delivering a hot, fresh, cheap pizza … TO THE EMPLOYEE WHO MADE OUR PIZZA.

It just isn’t right.

I’m uninspired, “Mr. Bowling-shoe-giver-outer”.
