Watching my kids reach out to hold each other’s hands. Absolutely precious to see them love each other.

When my son was born we had a relatively easy birth. With the labor beginning in the evening around 11:30 and the birth coming around 4 in the morning, it could have been much worse. Anyway, my daughter stayed at home with my mom and when she came to the hospital to meet the new addition the family, she found he was quiet. After a few minutes, however, he opened up and started crying with that precious newborn cry that sounds truly harmless and yet specifically intense. What did she do in that moment?
She began to sing to him. She sweetly sang the song that is featured in Dumbo, “Baby of Mine”. A truly special moment and one that I will reflect upon when they are pulling each other’s hair out in a moment of angst.
I’m not an avid runner, but today is a good day to get out and run or walk, don’t you think?
The last time I participated in this was 2009. I walked. It was really a nice thing. Obviously it was impactful enough that I am writing about it now.

Wow. I would DEFINITELY still be nervous even with thick glass protecting my kid. The lion’s intentions are pretty clear. FOOD.
