Gardening #9

Surprise! I found a tomato plant growing next to our hydrangea bush on the back side of the house. It was an outlandish surprise. That side of the house gets only a few hours of sunshine and only during the later hours in the day. It is growing small clusters of tomatoes so I don’t know if they will end up as cherry tomatoes, plum tomatoes or just plain old tomatoes 🙂

I’m surprised and excited and it bubbles over into slightly disappointed. I mean, I watered and fed and babied the other tomato plants to get them to fruit and only was able to get an average yield. Here is a plant that I didn’t even know about and didn’t do anything to help it and it looks like it is going to survive and actually bear fruit. Amazing. I won’t be looking this gift horse in the mouth though – I’m looking forward to tasting these and comparing them to the ones we have.
