Gardening #6

My garden now
The image may be slightly dramatic, but after torrential rain and tornado like winds, and then a cold spell that put ice on my windshield, I feel powerless. Seems like my garden dreams have been dashed. The tomatoes stalks are falling over on themselves, the bell peppers didn’t have a chance from the moment I transplanted them. The broccoli looks okay, but the celery has been washed away. The peas, forget the peas, they haven’t even considered sprouting. Its like I got three bad packs of pea seeds. Likely, no – but I don’t know what is going wrong with them.

If we get any crop – I think it will be the garlic and the sunflowers. I’m hopeful they pull through. Although I also discovered that the sun doesn’t really hit the garden until 10 am. I was hoping for more of a 8-8 coverage. No dice.

Anyway – I may have been a little naive about the feasibility of a garden. I’m going to keep trying, but I don’t have high hopes at this point.

Oh, Leroy! I’m sorry to hear about the weather troubles. I’m hopeful things will work out, too. Spring is such a tricky time of year – young plants, changeable weather. I’m sure by the time I’m there we’ll all be enjoying the produce!
