EK was the first one up this morning. Luckily she didn’t know what to expect so we did the morning routine and she didn’t see the dining room until we all were together. It is cute seeing the kids get excited about candy and a balloon.
But on the other hand, as you can see below, Paxton was a little put-off by the bunny. He basically wants nothing to do with it right now. That’s okay – he might grow into it. Or it will get regifted
Just kidding.
Anyway, we are having a bright sunny Easter morning. Looking forward to a nice day with the family, although there is a lot of doubt in my mind that it will be relaxing. Two little kids are quite energy consuming.

Grass = Lawn Grass.
Yeah, we have a lot of it. I spent an hour doing the “push mower” thing yesterday and got, maybe, half way done. I still have the “back 10″ to do. I was skeptical that it was more than I did when I was growing up but it definitely is. And lots more trim work to do too. I’m looking forward to Paxton being able to walk so he take on that responsibility. Although I may have to wait a few years after we hit that walking stage
Maybe now is a good time to ask for a riding lawn mower for Father’s Day … ?
We are very proud of EK for doing such a great job as a flower girl.

The image may be slightly dramatic, but after torrential rain and tornado like winds, and then a cold spell that put ice on my windshield, I feel powerless. Seems like my garden dreams have been dashed. The tomatoes stalks are falling over on themselves, the bell peppers didn’t have a chance from the moment I transplanted them. The broccoli looks okay, but the celery has been washed away. The peas, forget the peas, they haven’t even considered sprouting. Its like I got three bad packs of pea seeds. Likely, no – but I don’t know what is going wrong with them.
If we get any crop – I think it will be the garlic and the sunflowers. I’m hopeful they pull through. Although I also discovered that the sun doesn’t really hit the garden until 10 am. I was hoping for more of a 8-8 coverage. No dice.
Anyway – I may have been a little naive about the feasibility of a garden. I’m going to keep trying, but I don’t have high hopes at this point.
This is a must-have for protecting your family from the predators on the web. It’s new and the people behind the software are passionate about protecting you from the trash that is out there.
Glad to see the word being spread in a positive way. Going to make it harder to be secretive if so many people are into it – but that is the price to pay for what is becoming a popular, educational, exercise driven activity. I think it is good.
I got a chance to inspect the garden yesterday before the torrential downpour ensued. Things are starting to look good. I should probably have my rows elevated a little higher, because they are so accessible to the drainage and settling of water in the yard. Its hard to tell if it will end up being a good thing, because of the ready access to water, or if it will cause “root rot”. Time will tell. I don’t have a good supply of compost or fertile soil so I am kinda stuck with what we have at this point.
Exciting news! I got my onion sets in the mail yesterday. They should probably go into the ground this weekend. They look awesome. I got white, red and yellow onions. Haven’t read up on how/when to harvest them so that is something I will be getting smart on very soon. But they look and smell great. We Leese’s are big garlic and onion fans so if I can have even a decent yield on these – we’ll be very happy.
As part of my inspection of the garden yesterday I also discovered my radishes are starting to sprout. And the spinach has some very small leafy sprouts as well. The beets are still hiding, as well as the leeks. Garlic, which is wrapped around the perimeter of the garden to help keep bugs out, is doing handsomely. Really – I had no idea garlic could be so productive locally. I mean, we’ll see how it goes throughout a season but it looks like it will be just fine.
